Borborygmi are defined as the weird and wonderful noises that the abdominal
structures make as part of their normal function - in other words, bowel
sounds. (There was actually a disco called 'Borborygmi' that was run by a
friend of mine at medical school). Flatus is wind, of the bottom variety
(colloquially termed farting), as opposed to eructation, which is wind at
the top, otherwise referred to as belching or burping.

Subject: Questions
I have two questions that members may be able to help me with:
1. Reading through research on pyruvate supplementation, I came across two
terms that I have not heard of before - borborygmus and flatus. My best
guess is that they refer to some kind of 'gastrointestinal distress', but I
would like to be clear on a more precise definition.
2. What is visceral fat? I am aware that visceral fat is stored in and
around the abdominal area - however, where precisely is it found?
Many thanks,
Christian Finn
