Thanks to Christopher Crockett and his delighting french (as funny as
my english, I presume). Anyhow, I think the borde portable could be
found in many regions. a 16th century illumination from the region of
Rouen shows it (http://www.uhb.fr/alc/medieval/berger.jpg) and the Seine
region is not as plain as the Beauce.
I think it must have been a general fashion. I've an another borde in a
"livre d'heures" from rouen, 16th c.
There's no "borde" in Villon : juste the idea that, whith garlic and
shallots, Franc Gontier would have bad breath; that cushions and
blankets near a good chimney are more comfortable than the earth and the
grass : "Il n'est tresor que de vivre a son aise."
Tout leur maton, ne toute leur potee
Ne prise un ail, je le dis sans noysier
S'ilz se vantent coucher sous le rosier,
Ne vault pas mieulx lit costoyé de chaises ?
