Department of Sociological Studies
Lecturer in Community Care
Social Policy - Health - Mental Health - Disability Studies - Older People
(R1922)
Applications are invited for the above post from those with expertise in one
or more of the areas and with a background in health or social care. This is
an opportunity for an active researcher and innovative teacher to lead the
teaching of community care, primarily on the MA in Applied Social Studies
(DipSW). Salary, £17,238-£30,065 pa. Closing date: 17 March 2000.
The Department of Sociological Studies is looking for a person who has the
knowledge and experience necessary to contribute to the Departmentıs
teaching in the field of community care on the MA in Applied Social Studies.
An understanding and appreciation of community care policy and practice are
required. It is likely that he or she will have a specialist interest in
community care for older people, disabled people, people with learning
difficulties or people with mental health problems. In addition he or she
will be able to each core theme in social policy/social administration, for
example: topics such as the structure and operation of local government.
Ideally, the successful candidate will be an active researcher with a record
of publication and scholarly output, or a person with substantial practice
experience and the motivation and skills to develop a research portfolio.
