Thanks for your note. I printed it off as it is material of which I am very
much interested. Sorry if there was any confusion as to what I was trying to
say, but it essentially comes down to the presence of banks or secular
lending institutions as the ultimate owners of a chunk of property or
building. IOW the real possibility of profane ownership would never have
occurred before such institutions got involved.
Otherwise I stand corrected as to how far along a building had to be before
consecration/dedication could take place. Although I think two years would
be more than sufficient for a large part of a church to be erected, even
without modern hoisting equipment and other power tools.

PS: Actually, if I remember correctly from my catholic educated childhood, it
is the altar which is consecrated and the church which is dedicated. So all
one needs is an altar.
