If you're putting in a good word for more scholarship and less polemics, I
agree.
If you're saying let's go back to the rhetoric of 50 years ago, when
"religion" meant Christianity, and one wasn't allowed to mention any
religious faith other than Roman Catholicism or (sometimes) Protestantism,
I'm not sure this is appropriate any longer. Too many of the wars going on in
the world today are pitting one religious faith against another, and at least
on this list it would be nice to have an atmosphere of greater tolerance and
balance.
Could you clarify exactly what you mean?
IMHO, it's not so terrible to hear about the Crusades, once in a while, from
the point of view of those crusaded against. List members who don't want to
know about any point of view other than their own can simply not read those
posts.
