Ritual and Belief: the Rites of the Anglo-Saxon Church
7th-9th July 2000, University of Oxford, England
An international, multi-disciplinary conference on the liturgy of the
Anglo-Saxon Church. Papers will explore liturgy in the context of
architecture, art, performance, music, vernacular preaching, and sacred
space. With sessions on The Sign of the Cross, Conceptual Approaches,
Liturgical Music, the Benedictine Reform, Architecture and Archaeology,
Performance, Vernacular Preaching, and Episcopal Rites.
Speakers include Brad Bedingfield, Kevin Blockley, John Caldwell, Anne
Crawley, Richard Gem, Helen Gittos, Helmut Gneuss (discussant), Mechthild
Gretsch, Sarah Hamilton, Yitzhak Hen, Joyce Hill, Karen Jolly, Christopher
