I shy away from October 31,1517, because the nature of what happened that
day in Wittenberg (before lunch? after lunch? but I digress) was pretty
much what Luther's Roman opponents at the time described it to be. The
posting of the 95 Theses was of course important. But it was the action
of one man, not of any organization, church or otherwise. Slice at 1515
and cheat on the Lateran Council. Any break we suggest must be arbitrary,
so be arbitrary to your own benefit.
(And the Theses were posted BEFORE lunch!)
Cheers!
