(subject line per Douglas Adams)
Unable to connect while on the road and trying to digest the myriad of
dc-usage email messages, I'd like to offer restate a few general points as I
try and respond to the individual messages:
1) The editors are NOT your enemy. (just for the record, I thought I would
state this...)
2) The ballot is an attempt to reflect a coherent synthesis of various
less-coherent proposals. The editors are NOT trying to force any new
concepts, model, terminology on this group.
3) The identification of a new type of qualifier was INTENTIONAL to
disambiguate this from other better understood qualifier types. The Agent
(and in part the Type) groups are introducing things that do NOT fall well
into the two kinds of qualifiers we collectively understand. Making this
clear is important for members of this group to make informed decisions.
4) The editors have tried to represent the spirit of the proposals in all
cases. If members of this group disagree with the representation, PLEASE
bring this to the attention of the editors and we will either explain why it
is represented the way it is, or fix it in the case of errors on our part.
