Dear Bone People:
I have somewhat of an unusual request, but trust me, it does have
an archaeological application. Recently I have become involved with
a project that deals with the symbolic use of animals and how music
accompaniment may have been used to calm the animal. However, before I
stretch the archaeological evidence to its breaking point, I was hoping to
find some modern data (if it exists) to support this premise. If anyone
knows of a study, or series of studies, which focus on the effects that
music has on animal behavior and temperment, I would appreciate if it could
be brought to my attention. Thanks in advance to all who reply.
