Regarding the availability of aurochs specimens.
I work as an exhibit developer at the Science Museum of Minnnesota, in the
United States. We are currently developing an exhibit called The Mysteries
of Catalhoyuk, about a 9,000 year old Neolithic settlement under excavation
in Turkey. We are working with the international archaeological team
excavating the site, led by the British archaeologist Ian Hodder. One of
the more common zooarchaeology finds at Catalhoyuk are the bones of
aurochs, Bos taurus primigenius, the ancestor of modern cattle. We would
like to exhibit an aurochs skeleton (partial or complete), or a cast of a
skeleton, in our exhibit, to help tell the story of animal remains at
Catalhoyuk. I'm looking for a museum or research institution that may have
complete or partial skeletal material that may be available for exhibit
loan or for purchasing a cast. Our exhibit, which will run for 6-9 months
at the Science Musuem, will open next June, 2001. Please contact Rachel

If it's possible for you to post this inquiry on your mail base, I would
really appreciate it!
Thank you.
