Dear All,
As some of you suggested, I am attaching the sketch of the weird, "Y"
shaped bone tool, recovered at a Roman Period rural site in Hungary. It
was carved from an Equid ilium. A 4cm broad iron blade was inserted in
the bottom of the bifurcation cut deep into the crista iliaca. Thereby the
two fork-like bone "wings" direct the material toward the blade.
Have you ever seen anything similar made of any material and of known
function?
I will leave for the field on July 19. Therefore I can respond only after
August 15.
Best wishes,
Laszlo Bartosiewicz
