Having experimented with uk.railway, I feel disappointed that discussion
is not welcome on utsg. I don't quite understand why membership will
fall if it becomes a dicussion list. Perhaps the [anonymous] listowner
might explain? Surely there must be swings and roundabouts? Some will
join, others may leave. I belong to several lists as I have no
facilities for "discussion" in this relatively isolated rural situation
and, like everyone else, I have a delete button which I use if I don't
want to read the message. In addition I imagine that most people receive
their messages through a university server at no cost to themselves, so
it is not as though this will incur additional expense on their part -
unlike me. I have to pay for all my downloading - including those
annoying attachments which appear to be sent because people are simply
too lazy to "cut and paste".
If others would like to discuss this problem (because we can't discuss
it on utsg!!!), please write directly. Thanks
