The Radical Statistics Group has three vacancies to fill early in 2001.
We need a first class administrator to become one of the 'Troika' who are
responsible for organising the annual one-day conference (coming up in
February) and for the general direction of the Group's activities. We
need enterprising and conscientious editors for 'Radical Statistics' the
journal that is published three times a year.
All three of these posts offer unrivalled scope for personal development in
a relatively neglected area - the use of statistics for the amelioration of
the human condition.
Regretfully the scale of opportunities presented by these posts is not
matched by the remuneration or other support available. Neither tenure nor
permanent posts are on offer. Contracts are all short-term with a maximum
of three years. But if in spite of these unpromising terms and conditions
your drive to contribute to developments in this relatively neglected area
is strong, please discuss the matter with one of the existing incumbents.
The current 'Troika' members are Jay Ginn <[log in to unmask]>, Danny
Dorling <[log in to unmask]>, and me <[log in to unmask]>.
The editors of 'Radical Statistics' are Christina Pantazis
<[log in to unmask]>, and Mary Shaw < [log in to unmask]>.
We look forward to hearing from you.
