The problem for an American reader is that there's never been any such
brand here. I could surmise that the cards were cigarette pack premiums but
even so I wasn't sure that Kensita was the brand name. Maybe you could
incorporate a footnote indirectly in the title by calling it instead
"Premium" or "Cigarette Premium" or something like that, which would have an
ironic resonance by pointing to the ghastly "prize" and also because
"premium" is often a term applied to tobacco. If you wanted to soften the
irony of the end you could mention nicotiana earlier on so it would lack the
somewhat self-conscious oomph given to it by that position, and that would
also give the chance to do something else with the end.
