Hi David and all,
Thanks for your reply and the reminder on the different types
of design theories. And I need your further assistance to see
the dynamics among them.

I am fairly confused, so let me try to see if I can make my questions clear:
I understand for you, design theory means "principles that guide design
practice" and I will call this a PP theory. All is well, the PP theory
is propositioned, tested, modified, refined and on and on until it is
replaced. I call this process the Life of PP.
If we want to have some control over the Life of PP, so that it serves
some
defined purposes; then we need some principles to guide its development.
May I ask if these principles that guide the Life of PP are the theories
about design?
If they are, then principles that guide design practice can't be
independent from principles about design.
Best Regards
Rosan
