Although I was not asked to answer this question, I will intervene. The ID
forum list is nothing more than a chit-chat room. Low intelectual
discipline, dispersed discourse, and too much political input. Once, after
I had been disillusioned with the phd-design list I migrated briefly there,
only to find out that I would better go back. In that case, for nearly two
weeks, the primary discussion topic was design and capitalism -- you can
immagine what was going on. I decided to move out of the list before they
make a call for a revolution. I am fed up with that stuff.
The discussions on the phd-design list might go out of focus and most of
the participants display design (not research) thinking, but even so, this
list is much more research-oriented than any other design-related list.
So, there is no choice. Simply because there is no alternative.
