Dear Friends,
I request greater care with headers.
When the conversation drifts over to a new subject, changing the subject
header is a valuable way to identify the new thread and make it searchable.
To see the archive, go to the Mailbase archive at
www.mailbase.ac.uk
To see the archive for Ph.D.Design, click on the letter P and then click on
the name Ph.D.Design.
The archive allows one to locate material in several ways. Only when we
identify new subjects as threads shift and turn will we get maximum value
out of this extraordinary facility.
Several posts have come up under the titles of "theory and originality"
that should properly have been given a new name by authors.
On many lists, a change in subject is often headed "Blah blah blah" [was:
Theory and Originality] to denote a former thread as the starting point.
Posts still on the original thread can still use the original header.
A header has three parts: "To:" "From:" and "Subject:"
Making proper use of the subject header is a valuable contribution to the
development of a thread.
