Hi Martin
How about talking to the people at Kew? They have four(?) working. Or
how about the people who worked the restoration at Levant, the
Trevithick Society.
And Geevor Mine may have records about the steam winder. They do have a
little known archive which we were invited to visit last Summer and are
looking for people to use it. It's not yet fully catalogued, but may
give you want you want. (01736) 786622
The leaflet on the Pool Engines by the National Trust gives something
about their work rate, but not about the coal input. Depends of you are
looking for overall system efficiency or engine efficiency.
The question is why do you need to convert to SI units? Could you not
just use the Imperial formulae and then get the efficiency as a
percentage (a number after all) and then use this?
Or the Boulton and Watt archive which I believe is held by Birmingham
City museums??
Failing all this Camborne School of Mines or Camborne Museum?
Hope this helps
Regards
John
