Hi Tarcia
I think the process will be:
1; Application to UKCC for registration. Once this is received you can look
for a post
2. Review job advertisements (The RCM Midwives Journal is quite good for
this) or
3. Contact specific hospital asking if they have any midwifery vacancies
Re work permits I am uncertain about which comes first. Certainly my own
experience leads me to suggest that you need a job offer in hand before
applying for a work permit as the employer will sponsor your request.
Hope this helps

Hello,
I am a midwife in the United States and am interested in
finding work in
the UK. I was informed by someone at the Overseas Labor
Services in the UK
that midwifery was a shortage profession currently and that
midwives were
needed, making work permits easy to obtain. Does anyone have
any advice on
finding listings for open positions in England? Also, does
anyone have any
advice, suggestions, or experience with coming from overseas
(particularly
the US) to work as a midwife in the UK? I would appreciate
any replies.
Thank you,
Tarcia Edmunds-Jehu
