The Department of Media and Communication at Queen Margaret University
College is pleased to announce the validation and launch of its new MA in
Media and Cultural Studies, with first intake of students scheduled for

MA Media & Cultural Studies
Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh
This course is designed to meet the requirements of those who are new to the
subject, as well as those who have studied Media and Cultural Studies at
undergraduate level. The programme combines core modules in the foundations
of the discipline, its recent developments and research methodologies with
electives from across the spectrum of the subject. At the end of the
programme you will complete a dissertation based on your own independent
research.
Structure
The award is modular, enabling students to study by either a full or
part-time route. Students can also register as an Associate Student to
study single modules in areas of interest.
Delivery will be flexible to suit the nature of the module, and may include
some element of on-line learning. As a full-time student, you will normally
study four modules per semester. As a part-time student, you will be able
to arrange your own programme of study.

information management, such as:
* Documentary, News and Current Affairs
* Writing for the Media
* Playwriting
* IT and the Internet
* Website Development
* Issues in Cultural Management
* Cultural Policy Processes and Practices
* Public Relations

Department of Media and Communication
The Department is a leading centre for teaching, research and consultancy
work in media culture and corporate and public affairs, integrating in its
courses the study of media and cultural studies and corporate communication.
It has links with cultural institutions such as Scottish Screen, the
Edinburgh Filmhouse and the Scottish Cultural Resource Access Network, as
well as corporate agencies such as the Institute of Public Relations and the
Public Relations Educators Forum.
