Dear Everyone
Those eagle-eyed watchers of job vacancy announcements among you may have
spotted the recent ad for a new Sub-Librarian at Trinity. I 'm writing to
tell you all that I am resigning as Chair of the EIUG at the end of this
month as I have been appointed to a post at the British Museum, and will no
longer be an Innovative User.
May I apologise to you all very sincerely for the administrative
inconvenience I am causing, so soon after the AGM and the elections, but as
is the way with jobs, sometimes things can happen very quickly. I had no
idea at the AGM that I would be appointed to the post, which is a completely
new one, to modernise and organise a computer catalogue of the Museum's
books (nothing to do with the British Library, these are the books owned by
the Museum), oversee the newly refurbished Round Reading Room and sundry
other challenging tasks!
I have already informed the Committee of the situation, and we will be
meeting on November 23rd to discuss it. Meanwhile, the Vice-Chair, Micahel
Emly has kindly agreed to be Acting Chair until a new one can be appointed.
I will miss the EIUG very much - I've enjoyed the last two years enormously,
and would like to thank you all for being such extremely pleasant
colleagues.
Alison
