Hello,
I am working on a field manual on behalf of Oxfam for 'Groundwater in
emergency situations'. The manual uses Decision Support Systems to guide
the fieldworker through groundwater appraisal. Part of the manual will
include instructions of field geophysical techniques, mainly
electromagnetic, resistivity and seismic.
I know many people are skeptical of using non-specialists (hydrogeologists,
geophysicists etc.) in the field to make important decisions. Yet in many
emergencies small budgets prohibit their use and the use of groundwater
provides a more reliable better quality source and eliminates costly water
tankering and surface water treatment. An effective DSS will hopefully
reduce the likelyhood of costly errors being made.
I am interested in your views on this subject and any advice you can offer.
Regards, Jason Snuggs
