<< Hi Stephanae,
Here is what I meant. Machismo believes that male is better.
Feminism, especially the kind that i am familiar with, also tries to depict
male is better by simply trying to say that if women are to get their
"freedom" they have to be like men, and fight them in their own game. >>
In my 25 years of activism in the feminist movements of the USA, I am
encountered many "feminisms" and there is surely one such as Geeta describes.
I don't like it either, because it serves only to perpetuate the system of
male domination without really addressing it.

<< In India, sometimes I find the fight for independence has led to more
oppression. The women, I find, is not free from the duties expected from her
mother and grandmother- namely home and hearth and pregnant, but actually
the YOKE of now even economic assistance or at times even sustenance falls
on her. So now unlike her mother or grandmother, her work duties,
responsibilities have increased
without giving her any respite from anywhere.>>
The same thing is true around the world, but probably more so in India and
other countries now ever more being exploited by the international
corporations. In the USA, all of us have privileges because of the relation
of the over-industrialized countries to the less-industrialized countries.
I'm hoping that the Internet will allow women all over the world to have
dialogues about this sad situation, and what we might do about it.
