Oh! Thanks for the info. I missed that one. How many
screens do they have, and what percentage of the US total
would that be? What ranking are they as US exhibitors in
terms of the number of screens they own?

That figures! :)

I forget the name, but I think I saw it in the latest
issue of American Cinematographer in San Antonio (I don't
have access to it here in Las Cruces). I checked their web
site, but that particular article wasn't available online.
The article discussed 4 different alternative film formats
that were distinct from Showscan and IMAX.

Well, you're certainly a lot more knowlegable about upcoming
productions than I am. Thanks for the info. I's nice to
see another more production oriented person on this list!
:)

Well, then I bow gracefully to you and acknowledge that
you're far more production oriented than I am. I haven't
worked professionally in film since 1986.

Well, I'm not completely convinced yet. It's possible
that some studio and large exhibitor chain might merge and
create
a vertically integrated film company and adopt another film
format. That's what Showscan and IMAX are on a smaller scale.

I have no idea. I haven't seen it yet. I haven't even
seen Showscan yet.

object of desire', with digital projection against 35mm,

Well, Bunuel is one of the most cinematically specific
directors there ever was, so I don't think his films would
make the transition too well, but I think that digital projection
would be far superior to a 16mm print. I've never seen side-by-side
demonstrations, though.
