We are pleased to announce that we will be holding
'The development of successful inter-organisational project teams' workshop
on 13th September at The i3 Annual Conference 'Building Tomorrow Today' in
J–nk–ping, Sweden 13 - 15 September.
Workshop Organisers: DanaÎ Stanton, Helen Neale and Angela Boltman,
KidStory Project. (http://www.sics.se/kidstory)
This half day workshop will take the form of paper presentations followed
by discussion groups. We welcome submissions of papers for workshop
presentations and contact from those interested in attending the workshop.
Much recent research funding, including projects under the i3 framework,
involve a number of interdisciplinary groups from different institutions,
and countries working together on projects. These partnerships may be
fruitful, providing benefits in terms of shared expertise and knowledge,
cross cultural studies and so on. However, it is not always easy to
co-ordinate and work within these large cross cultural groups. Challenges
of intercultural communication, project complexity and scale add to the
potential for misunderstandings within project partnerships.
This workshop will provide a forum for researchers to present and discuss
challenges faced by projects and the methods of evaluation and
communication which have been used to address these issues.
We welcome papers that include:
… evaluation techniques to identify partner assumptions and expectations
… methods of disseminating information to the project members
… approaches to support understanding between partners
… use of technologies to facilitate inter-project communication
… examples and experiences of inter-disciplinary working groups
Our invited speaker, Samantha Hobbs, from the Open University, UK, will
present 'The role of evaluators in cross-cultural mediation within complex
project partnership situations.'
The Workshop organisers welcome i3 members to present their work but also
members of the wider community.
Submission of papers - A two sided paper is required. All papers will be
peer reviewed. Accepted papers will be presented during the Workshop and
will appear in the Workshop Proceedings which will be available at the
conference.
