HUMAN RIGHTS AND COVERT POLICING
12th and 13th, December 2000.
The Human Rights Unit of Durham University's Durham European Law
Institute and Teesside University's Centre for Police Research and
Education are to hold a conference on Human Rights and Covert
policing.
The conference will bring together academics, lawyers, police, NCS,
NCIS and other criminal justice agencies together to discuss the
issues involved in covert policing.
Confirmed speakers at this event include:

- Deputy Chief Constable Ian Holiding (ACPO human rights chair)
- Professor Clive Walker (Centre for Criminal Justice, Leeds)
- Professor Ian Leigh (University of Durham)
- David Smith (Assistant Data Protection Registrar)
- Helen Fenwick (Reader, University of Durham)
- Alisdair A. Gillespie (Centre for Police Research and Education)
The conference will be held within the confines of Van Mildert college
which can accommodate delegates. It will begin mid-morning on the
12th and go on to mid-afternoon on the 13th. A conference dinner will
be held in college on the 12th.
The fees for this conference are £125 plus VAT which includes
accommodation and all meals.
