My only complaint with the Fujitsu compiler is that it so slow. A
largish code we have takes nearly 1 hour to compile on a 500MHz Intel
box (dual processor, but that doesn't really matter). On a 2 year old
SGI machine (I think it is ~ 250MHz) the same code takes about 5
minutes to compile. The Fujitsu compiler doesn't take much longer to
compile optimized than with -g, which is curious. Also, the Fujitsu
compiler takes a boat load of memory during compiles. (Over 256MB for
some stuff.)
It is a very robust compiler, though. And the code it compiles runs
fast. Also, it's cheap.
