Well, thanks for this demonstration Peter, the difference between us
couldnt be plainer. There is no such thing as society (in Thatcher's
words); simply a floating phantom that biteds british babies in their
cradles, injects them with the poison of self-hatred, and then when they
grow up, they punch up. Thus runs your argument.
I align myself with the many who have found this society unjust, and in
such wise as to deny individuals access to many of its advantages, through
no fault of their own, no fault to be born black in a slum, white trash in
a british slum, oh no, my Calvinist chum, no fault of their own.
Peter, help me, your a man of books, wo wrote a book titled (something
like) "A History of the British Working Class"? Was it Thompson? I
recommend that book to you, esteemed colleague (really!). Underlcass
violence doesnt come from nowhere. It comes from a true history of
repression, Peterloo.
David
