I am really interested in the (ideas / facts?) that Chris Emery brings
up, that the avant-guarde in England was formulated or immediately
appropriated, commodified in Chris' terms, within an institutionalized
setting of academia. Being here in America, where most of the
avant-guarde or experimental writing is done outside of institutions,
even today & against the grain of the few poets who have attained posits
in University, I am interested in hearing others comments. From here,
the notion that experimental poetries were formed in an academic setting
strikes me as particularly odd & I am having difficulties understanding
a backdrop as to how this could occur.
Be well
