TWO LECTURER/TEACHING FELLOW POSITIONS,
DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL STATISTICS,
UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHAMPTON, UK.

Applications are invited for two positions in this lively Department.
Both persons appointed will be expected to contribute to the
Department’s teaching programme and to undertake research within
one of the Department’s main areas of research: statistical
modelling of social science data, sample surveys/official statistics,
demography and actuarial science.
The appointments will be either at the lecturer or the teaching
fellow level dependent on qualifications and experience. In
particular, successful candidates without a Ph.D. will normally be
appointed as a teaching fellow and given a reduced teaching load to
allow them to undertake a Ph.D. part- time. Candidates should
have strong academic qualifications relevant to one of the
Department’s main areas of research and have the ability to be an
effective teacher.
The starting salaries for both posts will be in the range £16,286 to
£22,579, according to qualifications and experience.
Both posts will be for a fixed term ending on 31.3.2005. Successful
candidates will be expected to take up their position by 1.9.2000.
