LECTURESHIP IN SAMPLE SURVEYS/OFFICIAL STATISTICS
DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL STATISTICS, UNIVERSITY OF
SOUTHAMPTON, UK.
The Department seeks a lecturer to join its internationally leading
research group in sample surveys/official statistics.
The person appointed will have the ability to undertake excellent
research in this area. He/she will be expected to contribute to the
Department’s teaching programme and should have the ability to be
an effective teacher.
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. or be about to complete one.
The Department has a policy of reducing teaching load initially for
any new lecturer in order to enable the person’s teaching portfolio
to be developed. A senior colleague will be nominated for the person
appointed, in order to provide guidance in the development of the
person’s teaching and research.
The Department will also support and expect the person appointed
to participate in appropriate staff training and development
activities.
The appointment is open-ended, subject to a probationary period of
three years. The successful candidate should ideally take up the
appointment by 1 September 2000 in order to be prepared to
contribute to the Department’s teaching programme for the
academic year 2000/2001.
The starting salary will be in the range £17,238 to £30,065,
according to qualifications and experience.
