School of Mathematical Sciences, University of Nottingham
Fully funded University Research Studentships are available in the
School of Mathematical Sciences, University of Nottingham for
well-qualified UK or EU applicants.
The Statistics Division has a number of projects available, including:
Applied Probability: epidemic models, ion channel models, stochastic
analysis of shape, diffusions on manifolds, semi-Markov processes.
Image and shape analysis: high level Bayesian image analysis,
medical image analysis, spatial-temporal modelling, texture analysis.
Statistical Archaeology: tree-ring dating, analysis of seriation data,
radio-carbon dating.
Statistical Inference and methodology: bootstrap and simulation methods,
saddlepoint approximations, statistical aspects of fractals, Markov
chain Monte carlo methods, Laplace transform based inference, wavelets.
