I would strongly suggest that all future plans relating to IT and patient
identifiers should be based on NHS Numbers and not local hospital numbers.
Once we have got one national ID per patient then the Electronic Health
Record (EHR) and its link with Local, Regional or National Electronic
Patient Records (EPR) can be planned appropriately

Subject: Labels
I am trying to get our IT department to produce a label with a minimum
dataset on it, including the hospital number in a barcode format. Is their
anyone out there currently doing this, and are they finding hidden benefits
from having the hospital barcoded?
