Dear all,
Many drug tests are run on diverse immunochemical methods which not
always is 100% unsensitive for drug metabolites etc. Very few
laboratories are using specific methods e g HPLC.
All manufacturers want to standardize their methods in order to get
the same values as "every other" method. Looking at the quality
control surveys for drugs it is obvious that nevertheless there
exists (in some cases great) differences between tests from
different manufacturers.
As a rule, all routinely used methods should be checked against a
reference method, ie a method with considerably better accurracy and
precision than common laboratory methods. A laboratory can be
ackreditated as a "reference laboratory" for such tests.
Obviously there is a need for reference methods for the drug tests.
Is there any laboratory in the world that has been ackreditated as a
reference laboratory for drug tests?
