How should samples for blood gas analysis be kept prior to analysis - at
room temperature or on ice?
I have found that sample kept at room temperature are stable for up to one
hour whereas when samples are kept on ice p02 is only stable for ~ 25mins
and then increases significantly. This is in agreement with a paper in
Clinical Chemistry 1991. Vol 37, 1244 - 1248. Any comments?
