Having my TAG program to hand.....the session was 'peopling
the mesolithic in a northern environment' and the talk was
by Graham Warren (ex-sheffield) now edinburgh. I am sure
you can get his email via the web or from Jennifer Thoms
(yes jenny I am in and I am doing something on that damm
paper).
Due to a few problems Umberto and I have not been recieving
messages (would you belive they forgot to send listowners
their list messages!) so I am not sure if Andy Jones paper
has been mentioned as an interesting one - Jones, A. Where
eagles dare; Landscape, Animals and the Neolithic of
Orkney. Journal of Material Culture, 1998; 3(3): 301-324.
I am also working on a paper called 'Living stones: animals
as architecture' as in the Hebrides there are many examples
of the incorporation of animals in buildings as 'symbols'
as well as structures (I can provide references if noone
else has mentioned them).
Remember all, TAG this year is in oxford (18th to 20th
December)- do come! We have a range of sessions and have
attracted delegates from Holland, France, Sierra leone and
the Congo, Ireland, Australia and the US.
