The THETO report 'Investors in People in Higher Education' (September 1999)
contains an extended case study on the building block approach plus many
institutional profiles with contact details for IiP coordinators. Copies
cost £25 and can be ordered from UCoSDA (0114 222 1335) - while stocks last!

Subject: IiP
Our institution is considering going for IiP and I have been asked to
write a briefing paper for the VC. I have all the theoretical
information but could do with answers to some of the more basic
practical aspects of IiP implementation. I would be grateful for
answers to the following questions from institutions who have/are
working towards IiP status, using the building block approach:-
How long did it take to achieve
How much did it cost (time, people)
Did you recruit any staff specifically for the IiP
How was it organised - ie did you have a central coordinator and
then people in each of the departments applying for IiP status,
responsible for their area
How many staff were involved and how much time did thet need to give
to it.
I would be grateful of answers to any of the above so I can get a
feel for the financial implications and time needed to go for the
award. Thanks
regards
