Call for Contributions

SAGSET 2001 - Employability: the Role of Games Simulations
 and Case Studies

Annual Conference of the Society for the Advancement of
Games and Simulations in Education and Training

  July 17 -19, 2001

at the University of Leeds, a joint collaboration between SAGSET
and the Context Project

The conference is a forum for the discussion of the use of games
and simulations in education and training. The Context project,
which promotes the use of case materials and simulations in
higher education, has been instrumental in developing many such
materials. This year's conference is on the theme of
employability and the development of key skills. Our aim is to
discuss ways in which the use of games and simulations develops
students and employees. The conference will provide a venue
for the presentation of papers about use and design as well as an
opportunity to explore the use of existing games and simulation
with colleagues in related areas. The kinds of activities
 considered are:

 Games
 Simulations
 Role Play Exercises
 Icebreakers and Warm Ups
 Case Studies
 Experiential Learning Activities

We invite proposals for contributions to the conference in the
form of seminars or workshops that take up the themes of
employability and the development of key skills.

Sessions will be either half an hour or one hour long. The hour
long sessions (workshops) provide the opportunity for
interactivity and experiential learning for the participants, the half
hour sessions (seminars) will normally provide the opportunity
for 10 minutes of questionsat the end. Please indicate whether
you want to lead a seminar or an interactive workshop.

 Guidelines for Summary Statements

The Summary Statements should cover session objectives and
intended outcomes. They should be 500 word maximum in length
and should contain author(s) name(s), title/position,

Summary Statements will be published in the programme.

Papers sumbitted to the conference may be included for
publication in the 3rd Issue of the 2002 Simulation and Gaming
Journal published by SAGE following peer review.
