- Apologies for cross-postings -
Dear Colleague,
please note that there will be a series of open and free seminars in
2000-2001 on research into lifelong learning, organised jointly by
Birkbeck College and the University of East London in association
with SCUTREA (Standing Conference on University Teaching and
Research in the Education of Adults).
The first seminar is from 3.30-5.00 pm on Thursday 26 October at
Birkbeck College, when Professor Ron Barnett of the Institute of
Education, London University, will talk on "Learning in an age of
super-complexity". This will draw upon ideas in his recent book
"Realizing the University in an Age of Super-complexity" (SRHE/OU
Press, 1999).
The venue is the Lecture Room, Centre for Extra-Mural Studies,
Birkbeck College, University of London, 26 Russell Square, London
WC1B 5DG. (Turn left out of Russell Square tube station and it is
pretty much straight ahead, past Russell Square itself. Also about a
ten minute walk south from Euston station.)
A flyer for future seminars is attached. The UEL seminars will be at
Docklands Campus (by the Royal Albert Dock, E16 - Cyprus Station
on the Docklands Light Railway is immediately adjacent to the
Campus). The seminar series forms part of UEL's Festival of Lifelong
Learning - for further detail of Festival events, phone 020 8223 4488.
Thank you.
Dave
