FINAL CALL FOR PAPERS
IMPORTANT DATES
Papers due: November 27, 2000
Author notification: December 18, 2000
Camera-ready papers due: January 18, 2001
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
The availability of large parallel computers and improved network technologies
has increased the need of efficient scheduling and resource management
policies. The technological developments in the communication networks, like
broad-band or ATM networks have made these areas very interesting and
important in recent years. They have also created new research directions
and projects. The objectives of this workshop are of both theoretical and
practical significance. The workshop aims to contribute to the theory of
approximation and on-line algorithms for scheduling and telecommunication
problems. It also aims to exploit this theory to real world applications and
to lead to practical algorithmic tools, thus fostering the cooperation among
theoretical and practical researchers of the field.
TOPICS OF INTEREST
The workshop aims to act as a platform for topics related, but not limited to:
Time and resource constrained scheduling
Scheduling with communication delays
Network scheduling
Network QoS routing
Load balancing and resource allocation
Routing and communication in networks
Facility location problems
Design of high performance networks
Wavelength routing and allocation
Edge disjoint paths in networks
ATM network problems
Frequency assignment in radio networks
Approximation and randomized algorithms
On-line algorithms
Complexity issues in scheduling and telecommunications
SUBMITTING PAPERS
Prospective authors are invited to submit original unpublished manuscripts,
not to exceed 8 single-spaced pages of text using 11 point size type or larger
on 8.5" x 11" pages. The manuscript should include an abstract of 100-200
words. A clearly marked appendix can be used for supporting material including
proofs, simulation results, diagrams, etc. The corresponding author is
requested to include in a cover letter: his/her complete postal address, email
address, fax number, and a few key phrases that characterize the paper's
topic.
Submissions must be received by November 27, 2000. All submissions will be
reviewed by the Program Committee and outside referees. Submissions may be by
hard copy or by email. Electronic submissions are strongly preferred and
should be sent to [log in to unmask] Authors should submit the cover page in
ASCII form followed by a PostScript file. Authors should make sure that the
submission can be viewed using Ghostscript and that it can be printed on a
Postscript printer that uses standard letter size paper. For hard copy
submissions (discouraged), authors should submit six (6) hard copies of their
paper along with the cover letter to the following address:

PROCEEDINGS
All accepted papers will be presented at the workshop. The full proceedings of
IPDPS (including IWST) will be published on CD-ROM by IEEE Computer Society
Press, along with a volume containing the abstracts of all the papers. We are
considering the possibility of publishing a separate volume with the
proceedings of the workshop.
