Hugo,
Safety award schemes - the two main bodies in the UK involved in safety awards
(for all of industry not just mines) are the Royal Society for Prevention of
Accidents (Edgbaston Park, 353 Bristol Road, Birmingham B5 7ST) which runs an
annual Gold, silver, bronze etc award system and the Britsh Safety Council (78
Chancellor's Road, London W6; http://www.britishsafetycouncil.co.uk) which has
a five star safety rating system based on audit and broadly similar to that
which I have seen used in S. African mines.

Subject: Safety award schemes
Can anybody please send me information on safety award schemes in UK mines -
e.g.million fatality free awards, etc.? Which organisation run these
schemes ( if any), and which organisation award the prizes? My e-mail
address is [log in to unmask]
Thanks
