DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION SCIENCE
RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
£16,286 - £24,479 per annum
Required for 18 months from 1 June 2000, to work on a LIC (MLAC) funded
project entitled "Privacy in the Digital Library". The
project will use a variety of research techniques including questionnaire
surveys, interviews, focus groups and advisory seminars. Applicants should
have a degree in an information-related discipline, and previous experience
of research, preferably including the development and application of
research instruments. An understanding and knowledge of privacy and data
protection matters would be an advantage. Good verbal and written
communication skills and a mature approach with good interpersonal skills
will be important. An ability to deal confidently with people at all levels in
libraries, up to senior management level, will also be needed. Because of
the nature of this research, an appreciation of issues to do with
confidentiality is important.
