In the context of human history and prehistory, what is wrong with "Last
Ice Age", as the next one, if not sweeping away humans from the British
Isles (we may not be a United Kingdom by then), will almost certainly
sweep away all our records and thesauri?
It is very true that Quaternary geochronology (NOT "periods" please!)
is geographically specific. In Scotland there is no evidence of human
occupation before the Last Ice Age, which only ended here (following the
Loch Lomond Readvance) about 10000 years ago.
