Dear Friends
I am writing to ask you to consider preparing a paper on Communications for InterSymp 2001, the 13th International Conference on Systems Research, Informatics and Cybernetics to be held in Baden-Baden, Germany July 30th to August 4th and sponsored by the International Institute for Advanced Studies in Systems Research and Cybernetics and the Society for Applied Systems Research. This special symposium is in honor and memory of Robbin Hough. For nearly three decades, he encouraged me in the systems world and over the last decade to focus much of my work in systems to applications in communications.
As this would be a new symposium, I would like to gage the interest as soon as possible. Participants who wish to present a paper will need to submit two copies of an abstract (up to 200 words) as soon as possible, but not later than February 15, 2001. Notification of acceptance will be by March 30, 2001, and camera ready copies must be in by May 5, 2001. As many of you know papers are limited to five pages. For those interested, I will happily fax you the registration form, instructions to authors, and copyright transfer forms if you will send me your fax number. If you know of others that would be interested in this communications symposium, please pass this information on.
If it is help helpful, the only publication Robbin Hough and I ever did jointly is a chapter in the new book Environmental Education and Communication for a Sustainable World which is available on the web for free http://www.usaid.gov/environment/greencom/handbook.htm It can be downloaded as a whole book, by section, or chapter at a time. The Chapter on systems is Chapter 5.
I am very excited by the opportunity to convene this symposium and hope that you will seriously consider submitting a paper. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Brian A. Day
