Yes. From the f77 standard, section 17.1.1, 3rd paragraph
"In a complex storage sequence, the real part has the first storage
unit and the imaginary part has the second storage unit."
That's about as clear and explicit as the standard ever is on
anything. I can't, at a quick glance, find the corresponding words in
the f90 standard. I'm not sure whether this is because
1. I just didn't find them,
2. They are stated more obscurely, causing me to miss them
(call this a subset of 1 if you like),
or
3. They got accidentally omitted.
I'm quite sure, however, that the intent is for f90 to have this
same requirement. Otherwise, it would have been a significant
change from f77, far more significant than several of the trivia
listed in the section on "incompatabilities".
