Dear Collegaues in Clinical Chemistry
I wonder whether there is a data base of what tumour markers are commonly requested around the UK?
Markers like CA125 and PSA are obvious. Most will do CEA and CA19.9. What about CA27.29? Does AFP and beta-hCG get classed as tumour markers? Thyroglobulin?
However, there might be a nice little MRCPath project to make some pattern for the UK of what markers are offered, which are most commonly ordered, including some of those that do not immediately spring to mind. Is there a difference between the private sector and the NHS (probably).
Which markers require two consultants signature to get done?
Any thoughts?
Yours sincerely
