RESEARCH FELLOW
This post is from 1st June 2002 for a fixed term of two years in the
first instance, with the possibility of renewal. You will work on a
major EC funded research project: Human Machine Interface And
the Safety of Traffic in Europe (HASTE). The post involves the
design and running of experimental trials studying the effects of
using in-vehicle information systems on driving performance. The
trials will use state-of-the-art evaluation tools including the Leeds
Advanced Driving Simulator and an instrumented vehicle. A good
first degree in the behavioural sciences or equivalent is essential. A
relevant postgraduate qualification discipline, plus experience in
road safety and/or driver behaviour is desirable.
Experience of managing research projects would be preferred as
would an ability to develop new research proposals and contribute
to academic and technical report writing. Experience in
experimental design and analysis and competency with Excel and
SPSS are essential for this post, as is a familiarity with human
performance data. Preference will be given to those candidates who
can demonstrate training and/or experience in the field of human
perception and cognition. Experience with psychophysiological
measurement would also be advantageous.

Salary: Research IA (£17, 726 - £26, 491p.a.) depending on
