Dear colleagues
The annual 'Research sponsors (DfT, Research Councils, DAs) and Universities Transport Study Group (UTSG)' meeting will take place at 12.00 - 17.00 on Tuesday 13th June 2017 at the Department for Transport in London. The meeting will be led by the Chair of UTSG, Prof Tom Rye.
As part of the on-going commitment from myself and colleagues at the DfT and our arms-length bodies to reinvigorate our links and relationship with the UTSG - we're expecting a strong turn out from DfT with many of the policy teams represented and would particularly welcome researchers working on:-
* Local, roads, rail, aviation and maritime economics;
* Transport trends and futures;
* Low emission vehicles and vehicle safety;
* Transport security.
The meeting is a great opportunity to meet policy officials and hear about the research needs of the department. It is also a good opportunity to foster collaborations, identify synergies, network and align your research with the research needs of the department and help better inform policy and in particular explore the opportunities from the competitions we directly fund (T-TRIG and Innovation Challenge Fund). Moreover we can confirm that our research fund partners: EPSRC, ESRC, Innovate UK, and the Scottish and Welsh devolved authorities will also be present along with representatives from the Transport Systems Catapult.
Please do let the secretary for the UTSG know if you plan on attending by Wednesday 7th June by emailing Alexandros Nikitas ([log in to unmask])
I look forward to seeing many of you there.
