An exhibition of prints, drawings and etchings made by Julia Midgley during
her tenure as Artist in Residence at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen
University Hospitals Trust, 1997-1999.
Julia Midgley is Reader in Documentary Drawing at Liverpool Art School.
During an eighteen month period as Artist in Residence at the 'Royal' she
recorded through live action drawing the working life of the Hospitals.
Scenes from operating theatres, pharmacies, sterilising units and emergency
wards have all been graphically described.
Focusing on the human face of the hospital this archive of drawings reflects
a panoramic view of the art and science of medicine as practised in
Liverpool at the end of this century.
The exhibition will run in the Hunterian Museum from 1 July to 1 September
1999. The Museum is open from 10.00 to 17.00 Monday to Friday. For more
