Dear All,
We are in the process of submitting various abstracts for the hands-on
meeting in Sheffield with the abstract deadline of 12th July.
We would like to:
1. Present:
a. GridPP - Project Elements (Tony Doyle)
- a talk aimed at reviewing how Grids are being deployed in Particle
Physics for a (relatively) non-technical audience.
Existing talk(s) material can be found at:
http://www.gridpp.ac.uk/talks/
b. GridPP - An Operational Grid (Dave Colling)
- a talk aimed at reviewing the process of Grid testbed construction
within the UK at a more technical level, establishing what components
work and how middleware is being developed/tested/validated.
2. Demonstrate:
In addition we wish to demonstrate the end-to-end nature of the project
with a single demonstration stand, bringing together 4 important elements:
a. information service (R-GMA)
b. grid data management (data replication)
c. complex application (CMS, one of the LHC experiments)
d. user interface via the web.
This brings together the expertise of many people working on these
elements across the UK.
3. Describe via Posters:
We also plan to submit a range of abstracts (~8) for posters,
representing the various PP applications and the middleware/hardware
developments across the UK. Everyone involved knows the deadline...
The draft abstracts for the two talks are attached. Could comments be
sent back by noon on Friday.
They will then be sent as per instructions on
http://www.research-councils.ac.uk/escience/documents/allhands.shtml
Thanks, Tony
PS Note that the abstract format asks for 1-2 pages inc. figures - not
really the format of an abstract as I (previously) understood it.
